I own a cleaning service in vermont. For 13 years I've tried different floor strippers and some work better then others but have the same results that being the worst chemicals for your health work the best. In the last few years companies are jumping on the band wagan with going green with floor strippers but the end results are they don't work . I have to finish the job with my with my SCULL & CROSS BONES stripper.
Anyone having any great results with some of the newer green strippers on the market? If so, could they be posted ?
I suggest you try ES 90 Clean Cut and or ES 85 Scrub Free. Both are Green Certified, both work extremely well, and both have low odor. Check out the Product Info Sheet for each from the Enviro-Solutions web site... www.enviro-solution.com ... and the Product Selection tab. 90 is the most aggressive. Both are available from Swish-Kenco located in Barre and Burlington Vermont.
I have purchased some ES90 at Swish-Kenco. I will try this product out this weekend. I will update with my results next week . Thank-you !
Try OneStrip from Ultra Durable Floors, www.udfloors.com. Good results, pleasant odor and meets Green Seal requirements.
I would suggest you try Johnson Wax Freedom. You can click on link for more information on Freedom speed stripper. At this moment not lot of green floor finish and striper work similar to non green seal floor finish at this moment.
Remember green stripper will work better on green floor finish. If you need to remove non green floor finish then you will need use non green stripper. The less odor floor stripper would be Ecolab Care Strip LO, Buckeye Ripsaw, Johnsondiversey Faststrip or wild rapid.

I found a green stripper that out strips any stripper there is, and I mean that it strips better than ANY stripper. It is a machine and it uses no stripper. at most just a bit of water and that is it. It is a truly green stripping process and it does it at 900 to 1000 sqf and hour. 70% reduction in costs to you and 100% reduction in chemical, and it does a better job than anyone elses job out there. Best of all it is GREEN !

Hi Chris:
Would you kindly get me some information on this machine.
Thank you,
After useing the ES90 clean cut this last weekend I was impressed by how well it performed. I did spike it a little and with -in a few minutes of applying it to the floor it really starting working well. The odor was minimal and the health reaction that I usually get ( skin & lung burning, etc.) was not there. Granted I never always take anything for face value the first time around with anything. So I will try again to see if I'm still impressed. I will update soon in the future.
As a chemist, I can tell you there are strippers on the market that are green and they do work. At Multi-Clean, we had developed a product called Ultra Stripper about 5 years ago using new low odor sovlent technology. We had such great success, 2 years ago we decided to apply for and received Green Seal Certification for this product. We now promote Ultra Stripper as our strongest AND safest stripper.
Try Sustainable Earth Brand 83 or 81 from Corporate Express, a Staples company. It works like a charm. It's stated dilution ratio is 1:20 but 1:10 is probably more like it under normal conditions. NO ODOR!!!! This stuff takes up anything.
How about BOOST technology. This uses an Orbital floor scrubber and can strip floors with no chemical at all. Only water is needed. I want to be fair and let you know that I work for the company that makes machine, but it does work.
You can check out the video of it on YouTube by searching "Clarke BOOST" or try this link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIglAlQgk80). If the video isn't enough, they will give you a free no-hassle on-site demonstration.
You can also check it out on our web site (www.clarkeus.con).
I agree with Keith, this BOOST machine works! I've seen it myself and we've sold many of them to customers. Its an up front investment, but the savings down the road will pay for that investment.
The "LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance, January 2008" EQ Credits 3.4-3.6: Green Cleaning: Purchase of Sustainable Cleaning Products and Materials states:
Disinfectants, metal polish, floor finishes, strippers or other products not addressed by the above standards meet one or more of the following standards for the appropriate category:
* Green Seal GS-40, for industrial and institutional floor care products.
* Environmental Choice CCD-112, for digestion additives for cleaning and odor control.
* Environmental Choice CCD-113, for drain or grease traps additives.
* Environmental Choice CCD-I 15, for odor control additives.
* Environmental Choice CCD-147, for bard floor care.
* California Code of Regulations maximum allowable VOC levels for the specific product category.
The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) does not require that floor finish strippers be third party certified in order for facilities to earn LEED Points, as long as they meet the California Code of Regulations maximum allowable VOC levels for the specific product category. You may find that your high performance stripper of choice meets this requirement and therefore is considered “Green” by the USGBC.
