Distributors Buzzing for International Coverage

Did you know that the largest professional cleaning show is held every other year in Europe? This May, ISSA/INTERCLEAN Amsterdam returns and based on initial exhibitor bookings, the show already promises to be the biggest cleaning event ever held. And for the first time, Sanitary Maintenance will be attending and reporting from the show.

In making our decision to attend, I talked with numerous U.S. distributors about the show and was encouraged by their enthusiasm for coverage. Some I spoke with had attended before, while others, like me, were contemplating going for the first time. And even though some readers had no plans to attend, everyone was curious as to what products and trends I would find there.

Most distributors feel that the European market is ahead of the United States in product development. But as the industry becomes more global, it’s easier to bring these international products stateside. There is a definite desire from U.S. distributors to find out what the rest of the world is doing — and it turns out, it is doing a lot.

Currently, there are more than 100 products nominated for the show’s Innovation Award. This is an impressive number of “ground-breaking” products. I am excited to see them all on display in the InnovationLab area.
I’ve been lucky enough to attend international events before and one of my favorite aspects is the opportunity to network with people from around the world. It’s wonderful to learn about cleaning trends in other countries, as well as media trends. I’m looking forward to meeting up with old international colleagues, but also forging relationships with new ones. Visitors from 130 countries attend this trade show, so it is truly a great way to gain international perspective.

I encourage Sanitary Maintenance readers to join me and attend ISSA/INTERCLEAN Amsterdam, too. If you plan on going, send me an email so we can meet up on the trade show floor. If you can’t attend, let me know what information you are interested in learning about. I will try to include it in our show coverage in the June issue of Sanitary Maintenance.
